HERE'S SOME QUICK BRAIN TEASERS TO CONSIDER:
(All answers appear at the end of the column.)
(1) Without looking at a chart of the standings, or a list of the teams, how many baseball teams are there that have in their name the name of the state in which they play?
(2) How many NBA teams are there that have in their name the name of the state in which they play?
(3) How many NBA teams are named after their State Capitol?
(4) There are only two baseball teams named after their State Capitol.
Can you name them?
(5) Name the team in the NBA with only eight letters in its entire name
(6) What two baseball teams are tied with having the least amount of letters in their entire team name?
ANSWERS:
1) There are five. Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, and the Minnesota Twins.
(2) There are four. Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, and the Utah Jazz.
(3) There are five. Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, and the Denver Nuggets.
(4) Boston Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves.
(5) The Utah Jazz
(6) The New York Mets and the Chicago Cubs, with 11 letters.
